Terracotta is ochre’s warmer, more fired relative — burnt orange and clay red drawn from traditional ceramics and construction rather than a studio mix. It is warmer and more mineral than Bougainvillea Red, and less luminous than Reyes Yellow: where ochre reads as dry earth, terracotta reads as worked, kilned material.
It rarely carries a room on its own; it sits alongside ochre and volcanic stone as part of the same material register, warming compositions that would otherwise read as purely mineral.
