# Narkomfin Building

Built to house employees of the People's Commissariat of Finance, the Narkomfin Building is the clearest built argument for Constructivist collective living: private split-level units too compact for anything but sleeping and washing, connected by an internal corridor to a separate communal block with a kitchen, dining hall, gym and roof terrace. It has spent decades in var­ying states of disrepair and restoration, and remains one of the most studied buildings of the Soviet avant-garde.
