# Casa Cristo

Built by Luis Barragán in Guadalajara in 1929, Casa Cristo belongs to the early regionalist work that preceded the reductive geometry of his later houses. Its composition combines local construction traditions with references to Mediterranean architecture, giving a single-family house a deliberately complex spatial sequence.

A stair tower with Moorish references anchors the house, while double-height interior patios, oblique walls and elliptical arches create shifting volumes rather than a single compact enclosure. Terraces at different levels make the changes of section part of the experience. Tile stair risers, coloured glass and heavily textured plaster give the architecture its material density.
