# Ricardo Legorreta

Ricardo Legorreta built the Camino Real Polanco hotel in 1968, developing a colorful, walled architectural language rooted in Barragán's example that he would carry through the rest of his career.

### Camino Real Polanco brought Anni Albers into the building itself

Legorreta commissioned Anni Albers, whose repeated trips to Mexico with Josef Albers since 1935 had already tied her closely to the country's modernist circles, to create a work for the Camino Real Polanco. It placed a Bauhaus-trained textile artist's work directly inside a building that was otherwise built out of Barragán's walled, saturated-colour language.

The commission is a concrete instance of the wider traffic between Bauhaus émigrés and Mexican modernism — the same network that ran through Clara Porset and Mathias Goeritz — reaching Legorreta's generation rather than stopping with Barragán's.
